Overview
Complex tape backup software wearing you down, or struggling to find tapes big enough to store all your data? The GProtect backup module allows you to backup as much data as your hard disk can hold. After one full backup, it only stores the files that change, providing you with (by default) 2 weeks of backups. It then stores a permanent monthly snapshot and each year retains an annual snapshot of all of your data for a maximum period of 3 years. In certain regions, these backups can be taken off-site to provide you with a disaster recovery solution as well. All of these processes are fully automated - you can set it and forget it, or you can be notified by email of any problems that might occur.
GProtect is designed as an integrated core module for the Sentral server. This software will automatically backup data from any server... Windows, Novell, OASIS and Apple OSX, as well as providing automatic backup of the critical components of the Sentral server
Why is it so good?
- It does not rely on user-intervention.
- It does not rely on tapes ..it copies all data in a school on a 10-20 day incremental cycle, equivalent to a 10 tape rotation.
- Provides monthly snapshots of all data in a permanent store...up to 3 years of backup files stored sequentially
- It also has the added ability of archiving this data OFFSITE.
- Schools can restore backed up data, locally, at any time via the GRestore Program.
GRestore
The GRestore program is available from our downloads page at http://www.gptech.com.au. A unique password and instructions on how to restore via this program is emailed to the school account. Staff can browse the daily backup logs from any workstation or can auto-generate a daily email giving the complete status of the overnight backup.
